Are there bathroom facilities?
Yes, there are toilets located at the cellar door. You can use the facilities throughout your stay. There are solar lights which guide you down the path from the cubby to the cellar door, and we’ll also supply a torch.
Currently, there are no shower facilities. It is camping after all!
Can I bring my car into the vineyard?
No, cars are not permitted in the vineyard. However, there is a car park at the cellar door.
How do I check in and check out?
Once you’ve booked your stay, we’ll send you an email with all the details. It’s as simple as collecting a key and the cellar door staff are on hand to help if needed.
What if I have accessibility needs and require assistance getting to the cubby?
We endeavour to cater to everyone’s needs so please email us ahead of booking to check accessibility. Under certain circumstances, we can drive a vineyard vehicle to drop you off and pick you up at the cubby (weather permitting).
What should I bring?
Your partner in crime, a good book and some pyjamas (optional).
Our tent is a 600m uphill walk away from the cellar door, and car park, so decent shoes are recommended. Save yourself the trouble and leave the suitcases behind.
If you’ve opted for to Stay Simple, please feel free to bring any food or snacks. The cubby is fitted with a 35L solar powered fridge.
Does the cellar door serve food?
The cellar door offers cheese tasting platters, however, does not operate as a restaurant. The cellar door closes at 5 pm daily.
Can I visit the cellar door before or after our stay?
Yes! The cellar door is open from 10 am to 5 pm (7 days a week), and they have some cracking wines to taste. Tastings are $10 (waived upon purchase), and you’re welcome to spend as much time as you want sipping away during your stay.
Is there power?
The cubby is solar powered. We’ve got lights and a fridge and a USB portal to charge a phone (but remember it’s all about disconnecting!)
We ask you to please be mindful of your energy usage. Our stays are all about getting back to nature and the basics, so be sure to flick off the lights and enjoy the stars.
Are my belongings safe?
Yes, the tent is padlocked and you’ll receive the key upon check-in.
How many tents are there?
There are two tents, Edgar and Frank both located on Mount Majura Vineyard.
Will there be more cubbies coming?
Yes, stay tuned for news on when more cubbies could be opening.
I would like a cubby on my vineyard, is this possible?
We’re a collective so always open to new opportunities. Please email us with some details, and we’ll get in touch.
What's in the breakfast hamper?
it's full of locally sourced goodies including a selection of breads and/or pastries from Three Mills Bakery and tea from the Tea Garden Co.
Is there a Schmicnics vegetarian option when booking a Schmick Stay?
Yes, please leave a note when making your online booking and we will arrange a vegetarian menu.
